Spider Farmer SF2000 PPFD & PAR Data

Spider Farmer · SF2000 · Grow

The numbers below are compiled from public sources: Spider Farmer’s own specification page and an independent field test. They are not our own measurements. Where a figure is only a manufacturer claim, or only an image we read off by eye, it is labelled that way. Each row says where the value came from.

What Spider Farmer publishes

Spider Farmer lists the SF2000 as a 200 W fixture and publishes an official PPFD map on the product page. That map is only an image — the grid values are not offered as text anywhere on the site — but the image is labelled with the hanging heights (12 in, 16 in and 18 in) and prints a µmol/m²/s number at every grid position, tested in a 2×4 ft tent. We transcribe those printed numbers below. They are Spider Farmer’s own stated figures, read off its own chart image; they are not our measurement.

Independent field test

The most rigorous public third-party datapoint we could find is the Coco for Cannabis SF2000 field test. It measures an average PAR across the footprint rather than reproducing a full grid, so it is directly comparable to the manufacturer’s flowering coverage claim rather than to the per-position map.

PPFD map (per grid position) — manufacturer chart

Manufacturer stated, transcribed from Spider Farmer’s official SF2000 PPFD map image (product page, map file SF2000-2512-PPFD-Map), tested in a 2×4 ft tent. These are Spider Farmer’s figures read off its own chart, not our measurement.

The chart is drawn as three nested rectangles — a 2×4 ft outer strip, a 2×2 ft box, and a 1×1 ft box — around a center point, so it reads as a grid by zone rather than as a plain uniform grid. In the tables below, columns run left to right and rows run back to front. The two outer 2×4 ft strips carry one reading each at the back, middle and front; the interior columns are sampled more densely, and the intermediate rows show the two 1×1 ft corner readings inside the center column.

All values in µmol/m²/s. Two things about the chart are worth flagging so the numbers are read correctly. First, on the center line the front-edge reading is printed higher than the back-edge reading at every height (12 in: 1244 vs 824; 16 in: 955 vs 792; 18 in: 863 vs 762). The map is otherwise close to left-right symmetric, so this front/back gap is a property of the published chart rather than something we introduced; we reproduce it as printed. Second, the 1×1 ft center stays bright while the 2×4 ft strip corners fall off steeply — from ~1226 at the center to ~313 at the outer corners at 12 in — which is what the difference between the 3×3 ft veg claim and the 2×4 ft flower claim looks like at the canopy edge.

Notes

The measured wall draw (201 W) sits right on the rated 200 W figure. The gap that matters is efficacy: the manufacturer’s 2.7 µmol/J is a fixture-level photon-flux number, while the independent ~2.05 µmol/J is derived from the PAR actually delivered over the 2×4 ft footprint, which is always lower than a best-case bench figure. The manufacturer chart and the field test also disagree on the intensity range, partly because they were taken at different hanging heights: Spider Farmer’s map shows the 2×4 ft corners near 313–316 at 12 in, while the field test at 15.5 in reports a footprint minimum of 272 and a maximum of 988 µmol/m²/s. The corner number is the honest limit of the 2×4 ft flowering claim and the level a plant at the edge of the tent actually receives.
